ALTAR GANG TEAM BIOS
Lumen Entertainment, Inc. was founded in 2003 as a 501 c-3 nonprofit tax-exempt corporation. Its mission is “To enlighten and nourish with Truth through the arts.” Focusing on children, Lumen creates artistic catechesis tools by utilizing scripture and natural law.
Brian Shields, Producer
Brian Shields, a loving husband and father of four children, has 20 years of experience working in the motion picture industry. He received his BS in marketing from the University of Central Florida. He has been intricately involved in a number of independent films. He was in the Emmy award winning series, “From Earth to the Moon” and has shared the screen with the likes of Rita Wilson, Montel Williams and Michael Jordan. After an awakening to his Catholic faith, Brian changed course and toured the country portraying St. Francis in a one man drama. He produced the motion picture “Therese”, and a number of radio dramas for children. The great need for quality faith based entertainment for children led him to start Lumen Entertainment.
Dr. Thomas Paul Stanley
Dr. Tom and his wife Julia have been married for nearly 30 years. They have five children and one grandchild. Tom majored in Biology at Colorado University and graduated Medical School at St. Louis University in 1974. "In medical school my experience with the complicated nature of the human body, reinforced my belief in God’s sovereignty. I marveled at His creation." says Tom. "One of my most wonderful experiences was as a Medical Director of St. John’s Villa in Ohio. It was an orphanage for neurologically abnormal children. The Nuns there taught me great service and humility. All of my experiences and acquaintances during my life prepared me for a Ministry I did not seek, but was given to me, and for numerous years I have been an avid speaker for Life. I love doing this. I feel that you cannot oppose abortion without first embracing Life. I firmly believe that the earlier children understand the value of life, the more likely they will be Pro-Life." Tom is a practicing pediatrician in Jacksonville, Florida.
John Webber, Director
John spent almost 10 years at Walt Disney Feature Animation. Beginning in traditional hand drawn character animation, Webber made the transition to the latest digital animation techniques while still at Disney. He has brought to life such characters as Kenai Bear in BROTHER BEAR, Lilo in LILO & STITCH, Disney's award winning JOHN HENRY and Mushu in MULAN. Additional credits include HERCULES, POCAHONTAS and FANTASIA CONTINUED. In 1993, Webber participated in the Turner Pictures Program for CATS DON'T DANCE.. He honed his skills at the number one school in the country for animation, The California Institute of the Arts. Also, Webber holds an Associates Degree in Advertising Design from St. Clair County College in Michigan . Webber is married with four children.
Michael Masny, Head Writer
Michael graduated from the University of the Arts with a BA in film and screenplay writing. His student film, Arianna’s Oak Tree, won Best Film of the Year at the Senior Film Festival and went on to place in several festivals across the country. He has written several screenplays, both shorts and features. Christopher’s Tail won the Best Short Screenplay Award at the 2000 Santa Clarita Family Film Festival (IFF) and his feature, The Search for the Great Teller, was a finalist in the 2004 Hollywood Symposium Screenplay contest. Michael’s creative and unique style and his understanding of children make him a tremendous asset to the team.
Glenn Sablich, Production Designer
For the past 21 years, Glenn Sablich has worked in many aspects of the Motion Picture and Computer animation industry. From Video Graphic Design to Special Effects compositing and 3D Computer Animation, with credits ranging from the PGA TOUR to the New Orleans Saints, from national network affiliates to the Worldwide Catholic Network EWTN, Sablich has collected numerous awards including National Broadcast Designer Awards, Tellys and an Emmy.
Jeremy Vickery, Lighting
has over 11 years experience in animation, film, video, and concept design. He worked as a Lighting Artist /Technical Director for Pixar Animation Studios for many years and helped create the films The Incredibles, Cars, Ratatouille and Wall-E. Before joining Pixar he was the Lighting Supervisor at Fathom Studios in Atlanta Georgia, and before that a Modeling/Texture Artist at Big Idea Productions in Chicago, working on several of the popular kids animated videos "Veggie Tales". Jeremy has also lectured on many occasions, speaking recently at the Game Developer’s Conference in San Francisco and Paris, several online interviews, and has even produced a DVD about light and color for the Gnomon Workshop. His artwork has been published in the Ballistic Publishing book “Painter” and “Expose 6”.
Gregg Azzopardi, Animation Director
Greg has almost a decade of animation experience since starting at Walt Disney Feature Animation in 1994. As Director of Animation, Azzopardi draws on his traditional character animation background and training in the latest digital animation techniques. Azzopardi's work can be seen on lead characters as Kenai Bear and Tanana in BROTHER BEAR and Lilo in LILO & STITCH. He has also contributed animation to Disney's MULAN and Disney Television's, HOW TO HAUNT A HOUSE. Other film credits include TARZAN, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME and POCAHONTAS. In 1993 Azzopardi participated in the Turner Pictures Program for CATS DON'T DANCE. Azzopardi holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Film, from the prestigious California Institute of the Arts and an Associates of Applied Science in Advertising Design from the State University of New York, Farmingdale. He lives in Orlando, Florida with his wife and son.
Thom Falter, Senior Animator
Has over 8 years experience as a character animator. He helped bring to life Big Idea’s feature film JONAH. He has also animated for numerous Veggie Tales videos. Thom was senior animator at Fathom Studios and character animator for the feature film DELGO.
William Straub, Musical Composition and Arranging
When William was one year old, he was able to sing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star" on key! Ever since then, he has been involved in music. He studied music theory at Portland State University, and later graduated from Saint Mary's University, in Winona, MN., with a bachelor degree in Philosophy. While at Saint Mary's, William was very active in Jazz groups. He has spent some of his life just soaking in various styles of music. He had always written music, but focused his talents on the combination of writing and arranging in 1990. His ability to write in various musical styles with fineness makes William the perfect fit for the Altar Gang series.
